is seeking a skilled Software Developer with proven Silverstripe experience for a flexible contract opportunity. You will join a collaborative, close-knit development team supporting projects for high-profile customers, with a focus on continuous improvements, upgrades, and feature enhancements.
The Role
This contract position involves supporting ongoing Silverstripe projects, including platform upgrades (Silverstripe 4.5–5.46 and related PHP modules), feature enhancements, maintenance, and security remediation tasks. You’ll work alongside an experienced team of permanent developers, participating in both individual and collaborative tasks, adapting to agile/scrum methodologies and attending regular team meetings including daily stand-ups. While the role is designed with an “office first” approach in Christchurch, remote arrangements may be considered for exceptional Silverstripe talent familiar with collaborative online workflows.
- Immediate start
- Contract term through Christmas, with potential for extension in the new year
- 24–32 hours weekly, with flexibility based on workload and business needs
- Proven experience with Silverstripe (cloud platform and self-hosted) and modern engineering practices
- Strong skills in PHP and confidence working with Silverstripe deployment processes
- Comfortable with automation/testing frameworks, small batch work, and quality-focused delivery
- Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, Docker, DDev and Slack/Google Meet for collaboration
- Bonus: Experience with Vue, Yii, Elastic/Observability tools (New Relic/Datadog), and React Native
- Ability to work effectively both solo and as part of a supportive, agile team
- Keen to share knowledge and help grow others
- Eligible to undergo police checks for public sector requirements
