As Project Engineer, you will support and lead the successful delivery of capital projects at a large-scale Christchurch dairy manufacturing site, including a new membrane plant, new milk storage silos, and other strategic site upgrades.

Reporting to the National Project Manager, you will work closely with operations, site engineering, contractors, and vendors to integrate new assets safely into a live plant while minimising business interruption.
- Support and deliver end-to-end capital projects, from concept and detailed design through installation, commissioning, and performance testing.
- Coordinate with Operations to plan works, manage shutdowns, and ensure safe, efficient integration of new process equipment into existing production.
- Prepare scope of work documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules for new plant and equipment.
- Assist with procurement activities including tendering, bid evaluation, clarifications, and award, then support post-award contract management through to handover.
- Participate in HAZOP, Safety in Design, and hygienic design reviews to ensure food safety, worker safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide clear project reporting to stakeholders through written updates, site meetings, and progress reviews.
- Washington Accord engineering degree (e.g. Chemical & Process, Mechanical) or equivalent, with eligibility for professional body registration.
- Experience delivering capital projects in food, dairy, or process plant environments, with practical exposure to commissioning and plant integration.
- Strong skills in project organisation, cost estimation, schedule development, and preparation of scopes and specifications.
- Practical knowledge of contract and contractor management, with the ability to work constructively with suppliers, fabricators, and installers.
- Familiarity with hygienic design, Safety in Design principles and participation in HAZOPs; AutoCAD/P&ID experience will be an advantage.
- A self-starting, growth-minded mindset with the drive to deliver results at pace while collaborating across teams.
