My client is seeking a highly experienced Program Manager for a 6 + month contract to oversee a strategic portfolio of digital projects, with the opportunity to shape how our digital team operates. Based out of the Christchurch office, the program manager plays a critical, strategic and hands-on (as sole Project Manager) role that goes beyond the scope of individual projects. The main purpose is to oversee a collection of digital projects and ensure these initiatives align with the organisation's broader goals. At the same time, reviewing the existing Project-Agile processes and make recommendations to the CDO on how best to evolve and improve.
Acting as the sole Program/Project Manager reporting to the Chief Digital Officer (CDO), you will:
- Lead, plan, and coordinate a suite of digital projects to ensure alignment with company strategy and digital transformation goals.
- Review and recommend how to best evolve Agile and Project Practices: With a focus to implementing a clear, scalable set of frameworks tailored to the maturity of the business and digital team's needs, ensuring structured workflows, regular stand-ups, and sprint planning.
- Develop and monitor high-level roadmaps, manage interdependencies and project conflicts, and oversee governance, KPIs, and progress toward milestones.
- Lead risk identification and resource allocation, strategic decision-making and early course correction if issues are identified.
- Manage and track program budgets, making financial decisions that impact all related digital projects.?
- Drive transparent communication with executive leadership, provide regular reports on status, risks and program health, and facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
- Directly line manage contract Scrum Master and developers as required.
- Delivering a new work order management solution in Salesforce, supporting significant change management and training as the program ramps up.
- Overseeing four major projects, including a third party software implementation, Salesforce CRM build, digital onboarding systems, and a work order management solution tailored for building solutions.
- BAU Activities: Ranging from infrastructure upgrades to supporting the above strategic projects and ongoing asset lifecycle management.
- Extensive experience (in digital or software transformation initiatives) in program or senior project management.
- Strong understanding of Agile frameworks, SDLC, and a track record of tailoring delivery practices to organisational maturity.
- Experience leading ERP implementation projects.
- Expertise in digital transformation and change management.
- Confident using Jira, Confluence, and other Agile/Project Management tools.
- Ability to inspire teams, manage complex stakeholder landscapes, and present insights at executive level.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve issues, mitigate risks, manage budgets, and optimise resource allocation across simultaneous projects.
