Our client's Power System Analysis team delivers generator connection studies, system stability modelling, and power flow analysis for New Zealand's transmission network and national electricity market participants. If you work fluently in PSS/E, PSCAD, and PowerFactory, and have deep knowledge of generator control systems modelling, this is a role built for you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering load-flow, short circuit, transient stability, and voltage stability analysis
- Undertaking generator connection studies to Australian NEM (NER S5.2.5) and NZ EIPC standards
- Modelling generator control systems — AVR, PSS, OEL, UEL, and speed governors
- Dynamic RMS simulations for transient and voltage stability assessments
- Advanced scripting (Python) within PSS/E, PSCAD, and PowerFactory
- Authoring comprehensive technical reports for a range of client audiences
- Managing projects, resources, and budgets — and mentoring other engineers
- 8 to 15+ years' power systems experience. Ideally gained in NZ, Australia, or equivalent international utility sector
- Expert-level proficiency in PSS/E, PSCAD, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory
- Prior experience with generator connection studies in NZ or Australian NEM
- Knowledge of Australian NER S5.2.5 and NZ Electricity Industry Participation Code (EIPC)
- Advanced Python automation within simulation tools
- Proven ability to deliver under tight timescales within a high-performing team
- Exceptional technical authoring and client communication skills
- Analytical rigour and ability to identify innovative solutions under pressure
- Business and commercial awareness around quoting, tendering, client development
